Celebrate Ladakh's spring bloom โ pink valleys, local culture and Himalayan warmth. This 8-day journey through Nubra Valley, Turtuk and remote villages blends festival celebrations, local music and warm Ladakhi hospitality.
For most of the year, Ladakh is a land of browns and blues. But for a few precious weeks each spring, the valleys of Nubra and Turtuk erupt into soft pink โ as thousands of apricot trees burst into bloom against the snow-capped Himalaya.
Our 8-day festival tour is timed to coincide with this magical window and the Apricot Blossom Festival โ a celebration of local culture, music, dance and, of course, apricots. You'll walk through blossom-lined villages, meet Ladakhi families, taste fresh apricot delicacies, and witness traditions that have survived for centuries.
It's a gentler, warmer side of Ladakh โ perfect for culture lovers, photographers and anyone who wants to experience the Himalayas at their most alive.
A gentle, well-paced 8-day journey that lets you enjoy the blossoms, culture and festivals without rushing. All activities are flexible and can be adapted to bloom conditions.
Fly into Leh, where our team meets you at the airport and transfers you to your hotel. Rest and hydrate to acclimatise. In the evening, a gentle walk through Leh market and a welcome dinner with your tour leader, who will brief you on the festival and the days ahead.
Explore Leh's cultural heart: Thiksey Monastery, Shey Palace and the Leh Palace. In the afternoon, drive to nearby villages where apricot trees are already in bloom. Enjoy your first taste of fresh apricot tea and local delicacies, and capture the pink blossoms against the Himalayan backdrop.
Cross the legendary Khardung La pass (17,582 ft) and descend into the Nubra Valley โ one of Ladakh's most beautiful regions. As you drive, the landscape gradually turns pink with blooming apricot trees. Check into a traditional homestay in Hunder or Diskit and enjoy a relaxed evening with local butter tea.
Visit the 350-year-old Diskit Monastery with its magnificent Maitreya Buddha statue, then explore the Hunder sand dunes (a surprising desert in the Himalayas!). Meet local apricot farmers and learn about the region's famous fruit. Evening at leisure amid the blossoms.
Drive to Turtuk, a beautiful village near the Line of Control and one of the few Balti villages in India. Turtuk is famous for its apricot orchards, and in spring the entire village is awash with pink blossom. Explore the village on foot, visit the Balti Heritage Museum, and enjoy a home-cooked lunch with a local family.
The heart of the tour โ a full day immersed in the Apricot Blossom Festival. Enjoy traditional Ladakhi music, dance performances, archery, and local crafts. Taste apricot jams, chutneys, juices and dried fruit, and meet the farmers and artisans who keep these traditions alive. A perfect blend of culture, food and celebration.
After a relaxed morning in Nubra, drive back to Leh over Khardung La. The afternoon is free for shopping in Leh's bazaar โ pick up apricot products, pashmina shawls and local handicrafts. Celebrate the journey with a farewell dinner featuring traditional Ladakhi cuisine.
After breakfast, our team transfers you to Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport for your onward flight. Depart with a camera full of pink blossoms, new friendships, and memories of Ladakh at its most beautiful.
When to go: The apricot blossoms typically peak between early and mid-April, and the Apricot Blossom Festival is usually held in this window. Exact bloom dates vary each year with the weather โ we monitor conditions closely and time our departures for the best blooms.
Weather: Spring days are pleasant (12โ18ยฐC) but mornings and evenings are still cold (near freezing). Layers are essential.
Altitude: Ladakh sits above 11,000 ft, so we include acclimatisation time. Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol on arrival, and follow your guide's advice.
